Terms of Use
These terms govern use of the Sherlock platform, operated by be. (Berner Experience), LLC. By accessing Sherlock, you agree to the terms below. If you are using Sherlock on behalf of an agency, you confirm you are authorized to do so.
Authorized Use
Sherlock is licensed to law enforcement agencies, courts, prosecutors, and their authorized partners. Accounts are tied to a specific agency and a specific user — credentials may not be shared, and access is limited to legitimate justice purposes.
Acceptable Use
- Use Sherlock only for lawful, authorized justice work.
- Do not attempt to bypass security controls, audit logging, or access records outside your authority.
- Do not upload content unrelated to a legitimate case or investigation.
Customer Data
Agencies retain ownership of the data they put into Sherlock. We process that data on the agency's behalf as described in our Privacy Policy and CJIS Addendum.
AI Features
Hey Sherlock, the Toolkits, and other AI capabilities are designed to assist — not replace — trained justice professionals. Outputs should be reviewed before being used as the basis for an official decision, filing, or action.
Service Availability
We work hard to keep Sherlock available and accurate, but the platform is provided on an "as is" basis. Specific uptime and support commitments live in each agency's service agreement.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated to agency administrators in advance.
